For Individual (non-group) policies

Benefit Period: 26% chose lifetime (33% in 2004)

Average issue age: 58.6 (61.3 in 2004, 59 in 2003; 63 in 2002)

Elimination period: 69% chose 90-100 day elimination periods (66% in 2004)

Limited-pay policies: 3.4% of policies sold were limited-pay (10-pay, to age 65, for ex.), 7% of policies in 2004.

Average annual premium: $1,985 ($1,929 in 2004; $1,771 in 2003)

Number of new policies: 308,000
